Bat walks and events 2024

 

It can be cold during bat walks with uneven ground, please wear warm clothing and suitable shoes. A torch will also be useful but should not be shone towards the bats.

 

Please note there may be a charge for some of the events and walks. Additional dates and events may be added at a later date.

 

 

1st June 9pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a bat walk at Badger’s Wood, Queen’s Hospital, Burton Trent. Meet at the top of carpark 6C at the Queen’s Hospital site, Belvedere Road, DE13 0RB. To book your free place please contact eandrew@ruralcc.org.uk

 

7th June 9.15pm. Bat walk at Hodge Lane Nature Reserve, off Chandler’s Drive, Amington, Tamworth, B77 4NY. No booking required. Free to attend.

 

15th June 9pm Staffordshire Bat Group lead a Bat walk at Stafford Castle, Newport Road, Stafford, ST16 1DJ. Pre-booking essential. Tel. (01785) 619131 or email info@historicalstafford.co.uk. £5 per person

 

28th June. 9.15pm.  Staffordshire Bat Group lead a Bat walk at the Wolseley Centre, Wolseley Bridge, Nr Rugeley. ST17 0WT. Meet at the Gatehouse. Pre-booking essential Tel 01889 880100, Adults £7.30 (including £0.80 booking fee), Children and SBG members free.

 

19th July. 8.30pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a walk around Dosthill Park. Meet at the car park opposite the DORCAS centre, Blackwood Road, Dosthill, B77 1JE. A joint event with the Friends of Dosthill Park.  Booking not required.

 

20th July. 9.00pm.  Staffordshire Bat Group lead a Bat walk at the Wolseley Centre, Wolseley Bridge, Nr Rugeley. ST17 0WT. Meet at the Gatehouse. Pre-booking essential Tel 01889 880100, Adults £7.30 (including £0.80 booking fee), Children and SBG members free.

 

24th July. 8.45pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a walk with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust at Hem Heath, Trentham Road, Stoke on Trent, ST4 8FR. The walk is organised by the Wilder Neighbourhoods Project which is funded by Know Your Neighbourhood Fun, with this support, they are boosting volunteering and tackling loneliness in Stoke on Trent. 2nd August. Start Time To Be Confirmed. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a walk at Beacon Park, Swan Road, Lichfield, WS13 6QZ. Booking details still to be confirmed. Please contact Lichfield District Council for more details. 

 

10th August. 8.30pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a walk around RSPB Coombes Valley, Bradnop, Leek, ST13 7EU. To book email coombesvalleyandconsallwoods@rspb.org.uk

 

16th August. 8.30pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a walk around Lichfield Cathedral, 19A The Close, Lichfield, WS13 7LD. Meet at College Hall, The Close for the talk at the start of the walk. To book contact Sophie Hubbert on sophie.hubbert@lichfield-cathedral.orh or 01543 306250.

 

21st August. 8pm. Staffordshire Bat Group lead a talk and listening to bats in the beer garden at Tamworth Tap, 29 Market Stret, B79 7LR. Booking not required.
